Daruma – Green
This traditional Japanese doll is made of papier-mâchee. The doll is modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen sect of Buddhism, and is a symbol of perseverance and good luck.
The eyes of the doll are left blank and the owner of the doll is supposed to make a wish or set a goal and then paint in one of the eyes to signify the beginning of the journey. Once the goal is achieved or the wish is granted, the other eye is painted in to signify the completion of the journey.
The Daruma doll is used in Japan as a symbol of good luck and is popular among students and businesspeople who are striving to achieve their goals. Giving a Daruma doll as a gift is a way to show someone that you believe in them and support them in their journey.
